Andre Johnson, Kary KubiakHOUSTON — As expected, Andre Johnson showed up to voluntary Texans organized team activities on Thursday. Johnson is a quiet player who prefers to let his talking happen by his play on the field. However, fullback Vonta Leach doesn’t mind talking for him, much to Johnson’s apparent embarrassment.

As Johnson arrived at OTAs, Leach acted as sort of his hype man, yelling random things to the media throng like “Andre, another Brett Favre.”

When Gary Kubiak arrived at practice, the first thing he did was walk up to Johnson, put his arm around him and say a few words. After practice, Kubiak admitted that when he got the news Wednesday night that Johnson would be at OTAs, his dinner went down a lot easier.

Understandable.

Johnson is about the last player that would like to bring attention to himself for off-the-field issues, and was surprised by the amount of attention him skipping OTAs would bring to both he and the Texans. After saying his piece with Texans owner, Bob McNair, he decided that he wanted to be back with his teammates.

The quote that all Texans fans wanted to hear from Johnson: “Like I said before, I plan on being a Texan till the day I retire, and my feelings haven’t changed.”
