Internet beauty sensation Lauren Luke is touring America in a pink bus, and StyleList is along for the ride.
The 28-year-old British mother and cosmetic entrepreneur — she sells her namesake line, By Lauren Luke, at Sephora — is sending us a photo diary from every stop of the inspirations for her future cosmetic creations.
On Thursday, we dusted off our cowboy boots in Austin, Texas. On Wednesday, we shucked oysters in New Orleans. We kicked off the road trip last Tuesday by partying along the shores of Miami. “If it weren’t for this sign, I would have never known I was in Vegas! It was so gray and icy-looking. It was rain and hail (on the road from Phoenix to Vegas). Something is definitely happening to the weather. Not good. This is a sign of the times.”

“This one — if I had to go blind, this would be the last image I would love to have. I like it because the light’s filtering in from the left, and its bouncing off the pyramid shape of the building, the Luxor, and the swaying of the palm trees. The juxtaposition of everything is just working. It’s picture-perfect.”

“I love the Sphinx. There’s something about them that are quite eerie. Its to do with the mummy, the tombs and the pyramids. I’d love to visit Egypt just to see these.”

“I love the evening glow that’s enhancing the green on the dress. And I love the blue and the Pharaoh’s head dress. They’re very rich colors — blue and gold. Blue pigment was the hardest to find, so it was a rarity. They used to paint all the pictures in blue and gold to show how rich they were. Blue and gold were a sign of wealth.”

“The nostrils were so big you could have run up them. And I want that eye color. I’ve always wanted to have light blue eyes. I feel mine are boring and I’ve always wanted icy blue eyes.”

“I absolutely love the reflections on that building. It reminds me of a Rolex, I don’t know why, but just the wealth and the richness of a Rolex — the gold shining through under the silver. It looks expensive.”

“This was the inside roof of the limousine. It was tiny little pink spot lights, and then the yellow curved runner lights, and then the big white light. I’m going to do a makeup look inspired by this for sure: Black, white, yellow and pink!”
